It's one of the oldest sports in history and was considered " The second largest team sport in the world". The game originated in England and was concidered too dangerous for women to play.
Constance Applebee introduced field hockey to the United States in 1901, when taking classes at Havard, she was skocked at what women would do for exercise.
In 1922 the United States Field Hockey Association was founded to help promote the sport.
How its played
Field Hockey is played on a rectangular grass or turf field.
The field is cut into two 25 yard lines and one in the center
A goal can only be scored in the 16 yard circle near the goal
There are 10 players on a team and one goal keeper
The ball is only allowed to touch your smooth side of your stick and goalies can use any part of their body
Fouls are given for shooting dangerously, and raising your stick too high, and hacking at anothers stick, and the ball hit out of bounds.
